To Wear a Helmet...or not - Bicycle - casual riding

Boise, Idaho: Wed Mar 30 2011 09:08:59 GMT-0600 (Mountain Daylight Time - Idaho Statesman (Boise Newspaper)

"It appears as if 53-year-old Michael K. Freeman was riding a bike across a field in the early morning hours Tuesday and did not see a dry irrigation ditch when he crashed and suffered a fatal head injury."

Some comments:  " A helmet will not save you from breaking a neck"

"here comes the 'ditch safety' legislation. they'll drop kindergarten through 3rd grade to pay for it."

In a big open flat field - here in Idaho - iof the brush has been cleared on both sides of the ditch - optically (plowed field visual line of sight)  it is hard to see there is a "break" ( ditch.)  It was 4 feet deep and probably more than 6 feet wide - he went over the handle bars and hit the opposite side of the ditch

They all have gone from winning to losing. They all have made mistakes that would cause the average bear to roll over and die... Too Big to Die - early, yes, but death is certain within the next 5 years.

Running Out of Oxygen

There are many events, places and people that cause me to Run Out of Oxygen:

"Boy, that's right...I do get antsy and bored with conversations, when I'm stuck at a dinner party with people that were not my choice to be with just then. Just get an overwhelming feeling of wanting to escape, or drink!" - Running out of Oxygen

Having a discussion with someone who constantly talks about themselves or a couple talking about their life - they are the entire discussion - and when it is over - I know more than I need to know about their lives - and they know nothing about me - Running out of Oxygen

Watching NASCAR on TV in a Bar, or someone's home - Running out of Oxygen

Actually Watching any sporting event on TV, (Except Boise State University football - and Tiger Woods when his playing is "on") - running out of Oxygen

Listening to someone who is dedicated to a "Cause" as though there were no other side or interest in their lives - Running out of Oxygen

Having my life disrupted by traffic that causes more than 1/2 hour delay in reaching my destination - Running out of Oxygen.

Being talked into an event or social situation that would never have been my choice under any circumstance.   - Running out of Oxygen.

Having an appointment - of any kind - where and for whatever reason 1/2 hour has lapsed without any extraordinary explanation for the delay.

Waiting is a trap. There will always be reasons to wait. The truth is, there are only two things in life, reasons and results, and reasons simply don't count."

 - Running out of Oxygen

People who are late by more than 15 minutes (especially if it habitual) - sometimes I purposely disappear for their arrival - Ran out of Oxygen

People who get criticized "correctly" and become offended - as a tact. - Well, I don't even wait to run out of Oxygen - I just walk away from that person and keep my distance.

I have several bad habits, I know of:
Talking too much and losing interest by others - PLEASE - Interrupt me - I'll thank you.

Interrupting other people when "I get it" has lapsed in my mind...yes indeed I interrupt them with a "change" in subject that "throws them out of thought"

I'll always take criticism nicely and accept it - if I concur, even if on the outside it makes sense.

there is more and I will append this list, and update it regularly.

Followup notes on INTC (Intel) and S (sprint)

Hit and Run Items today:
Intel fills gap before noon - now selling @ 20.60 ($.40+) since original "Gap" post a few days
.30+ on 150 (deep in the money) call options +$4,500 (still holding w/ stop at +.20)
Some recent "talk" on Sprint - Google is bringing out "new things on Sprint" why - a small carrier - less politics Sprint Willing - ATT and VZ arrogant - worried about Apple's influence - don't want to irritate Apple. Sprint does not carry Apple Anything - T-mobile subscribers moving faster to Sprint than ATT or VZ
From Fortune Magazine (digital) today:
(Random quotes)
 http://money.cnn.com/2011/03/24/pf/sprint_stock_comeback.fortune/index.htm?section=money_latest&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fmoney_latest+%28Latest+News%29&utm_content=Netvibes
"When news broke of AT&T's proposed mega-deal with T-Mobile earlier this week, investors sold Sprint stock as fast as they could get it off their hands."
".... (re: T-Mobile) a lengthy anti-trust review process could distract T-Mobile executives for more than a year, boosting Sprint's prospects in the process."
"I think this deal is a positive for Sprint despite the market reaction," says Dan Martino, manager of the $2 billion T. Rowe Price Media & Telecommunications Fund (PRMTX),
Martino's bullish bet is his belief that Sprint's long-term turnaround prospects, at long last, are shaping up. "If you're patient, I think you'll make a lot of money on Sprint,"
"The company started this year hot. It added 519,000 long-term subscribers in the fourth quarter, more than even AT&T -- the first time that's happened in least five years, according to Morningstar.
"Sprint has more than three times the spectrum for 4G than Verizon or AT&T, which Einhorn says could be a huge advantage going forward. Already AT&T charges separate rates for data usage; Sprint's plans don't have a limit. Greenlight values Sprint shares at $10."
"If things go well for Sprint, Ellis values the stock at $9; if things go awry, he thinks it's worth $3.50."

Well I have 3 screens running with charts of Sprint and Intel "up", listening to Miles Davis - writing this and Sprint is crossing the line at $4.68 (up from $4.18 on the T-mobile/ATT announcement) It's Friday, I'm meeting an underground wine drinking group at $4:30 - important business... (So maybe Sprint has a downside risk of $1.00+ ($3.50) and an upside opportunity of +$5.40 ($10) - and under most adverse conditions there would probably be a buyout at $5) Spring is coming - Earnings are coming - they will be better than the economy (how do I know - I "feel" look at Larry Ellison's Oracle - most people don't buy the stock because he appears to be unstable as a person - He has played the game they way he wanted against all "social (business) odds" Offensive to many - almost went broke about 4 years ago - couldn't control his personal spending - and yet.... he has been a visionary - he's doing so well - he can't even "personally spend it out"

ps. There is a controversy on limitations of WiMax 4G (sprint) vs LTE 4G.(T-mobile, ATT VZ) Intel is the MFG of Wimax - and has decided to "Level the Playing field" is now (under production) with a a Cell Antenna chip that receives both WiMax and LTE....Sprint stock has been discounted for having only WiMax - soon to be a lost criticism.

Who Loves and hates?

VZ and ATT both hate Sprint
Everyone hates INTC except GOOG and Sprint (Margin envy!)
Everyone is afraid of APPLE except INTC ,Sprint Google, and all the "peoples who Know what T-mobile and sprint have
VZ and ATT want the market alone - so they can control high prices for service
FCC - is so far out in the open, even political pressure will not prevent "disaproval" of ATT - T-mobile deal - it will cost ATT lots of $$$$ and Time.  Congress will be afraid to put their "Thumb" on the Scale
it's a big "Catch 22" situation w/ "little Sprint" sitting in the Catbird seat -

Sprint in the Catbird Seat

(repost of bigger post below)

I exited $S @ 4.96 on the rise for a +
Of course, I had seen it go to 5.15 in
dismay... waiting to re-enter at a lower #
Now Im very happy and still waiting to re-enter

update: I am now in the process of multi purchases
of $S 1/19/2013 3.00 Call options ( have 40 on my way to 150)

ATT has offered T-Mobile $1150 per perscriber
That makes $S undervalued by $10+ conservatively

Sprint has 50 million subscribers add to it 1/2 interest in Clearwire subtract from it Value of customer plans vs T and VZ and lets call it even - 50 million Customers X $1150 per perscriber = and rounded $60 Billion in total value (let's say)Shares outstanding 3 billion Value $20.00 lets discount for challengers of the numbers and say $15.00  now selling at less than $5   WTF! the value is 3X the going price!!!

So... now a challengers (distractors)
with a smile on his/her face and asks "What's the Burn Rate?"
forget about profit and loss - last net annual Cash Flow + $5Billion that's plus five billion dollars - So where is value deterioration in the future.

Billing Arab (and African) Country for Services Rendered takes Balls!

Iraq and Libya are very rich countries - When the changes are complete - the money will roll in faster than they can spend it.  USA has spent about $150 Million in two days in Libya and probably 1/2 Trillion$ in Iraq.
There is no question that we have provided the major impetus in causing changes in their countries - we should be billing them our cost.  they can pay it out over 5 years for Libya and Iraq 20 years - with a simple annual interest rate of 2.5%....Fair and Reasonable?  A bill for services creates respect!

While we are at it, Swiss Banks is harboring stolen $$$$ from us by dictators and enemies.  Is Switzerland our Enemy - Yes!  Open all their accounts and if any $$$ cannot be accounted for by the holders - then the $$$should be confiscated and returned to the Victims (countries, companies amd sect groups)  people who allow themselves to be abused command no respect... want respect - Send the Bill, Invade Swiss Banks - do the unpleasant Job! you'll get plenty of respect! Very few leaders have children when they are in charge - maybe their balls don't work - "The Peter Principle"

INTEL - Holding at base of "Gap" on a "swing trade"

Intel is currently at about $20.20 - the gap spread is $.40 - gaps generally fill unless "news" is to the contrary - UPDATE: Intel more than halfway through the gap fill now at almost 20.50

Do not short Sprint Nextel Corporation (S)

Sprint Nextel Corporation (S) weekly chart analysis ;
1) The big picture ; Still stuck in a tight price channel
2) We did get a typical GVN condition yesterday ; Gap, Volume ...
but the News could be subject to interpretations ....
3) Allow at least 10 days to see how Sprint acts around its
"reliable support ?" ..... (about 4/1)
4) Do not short

Porsche 918 hybrid: Order now for $845,000

Porsche 918 hybrid
918 Spyder is a plug-in hybrid car powered by a 500-horsepower V8 gasoline engine and two electric motors -- one each in the front and rear axles -- that will produce at least 218 horsepower more, Porsche promises. The car's top speed will be 199 miles per hour, Porsche claims, and it will be capable of zero-to-60 acceleration in just 3.1 seconds. The 918 Spyder will also be able to drive under electric power at speeds up to 94 miles per hour, at least for "limited distances."While official fuel economy figures are not yet available, Porsche anticipates the 918 Spyder will get about 78 miles per gallon.

Now I know what you are going to say - how much fuel savings will take to purchase this baby?

forgetaboutit! - it's the insurance that's going to Kill you!

FYI - My first Porsche - a 1964 912 (up grade from the Super 90) cost $4,000, My 2nd Porsche a 1966 911S Targa cost $6,800

Those were the days - after that it was all down hill for the next 45 years.... for me and uphill for Porsche. The thrill in 1966 was enough to carry me for a lifetime - I'm happy now with my Chevy Diesel P/U

life

In reviewing... (and how many times?)... your life - we continually ask ourselves -  all the "What If's" and then - "What Then?"... "What happened before what happened, happened?"... What would have happened, if what happened didn't happen?... How would my life had been, if it didn't happen - How would it have affected moving forward ... (if you consider - how you have moved - "as forward?....."  In fact - Who Cares? ........."There's only the Present!
(How many rules have you set for yourself that are irrelevant?)

iPad 2: are you buying one?

2011-03-04 05.59.37.jpg
At the current pace of upgrades - (talking across the board) along with new cellphones that are very computer like - in most things - My Android Epic for example changes my Computers (pictured above) laptops and desktop) usage by more than 50% less - I guess I would wait for a Full computer (pad) - Screen detached from laptop or desktop (all in one screen.) maybe 8 1/2 X 11" (yes the size of standard paper) That has a snap on face and will walk and talk for 10 hours. Have a gps - and built with Tough -bang proof innards and skin. Ya got It?  Two devices a smart phone and a convertible laptop/desktop/pad - ---- so what we see is more fad n' fancy for playgroup users - god knows why they - anyone would have bought a netbook.  Actually, after RIM is gone - Apple and Google will probably sell you an all-in-one smartphone/desktop/pad all detachable and usable (all pluged together for updates, syncs, etc) .  for whatever activity, travel, etc., etc. - they will probably be sold by ATT, Verizon and Sprint - for complete service - blah, blah, blah.

My friends know my capability - I don't need to show up with a "pad to impress" Think "Netbook"
Yes, The iPad is a very neat, slick, jam packed, mp3, photo taking and video playing - designer quality - Netbook (and only in 3G - in a 4G environment)
She's the best looking woman in the neighborhood (a goddess? No!) - but really lacks hormone producing deep passion in her moves. God bless the young girls and their youthful excitement - but whatcha' gona do when you have exhauted your surface excitement at less than 4/4 time!
This note is brought to you by Windows 7+, 8gig front end, Intel i7 technology x (proven) wireless 4G transmission at 14.91 Mbps... I want that in my Pad (! - and my "muse*") with a 10 hour battery capacity!

*Goddesses who inspire the creation of literature and the arts.  - They were considered the source of the knowledge, related orally for centuries in the ancient culture, that was contained in poetic lyrics and myths. The compliment to a real woman who inspires creative endeavor - A Muse "The key to the good life"

Melpomene and Polyhymnia - Muses
Whoa! The goddesses of tragedy and poetry!

It's time to cut the head off the Snake! If you want to estimate the Quality of the Company - look at Management!!

When Gov. Butch Otter spoke to the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee in Washington, D.C., this week, he wanted to make a point about how little wilderness means to his home state.
“There are more people in one day, probably, that play golf on the floating green in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, than visit the Frank Church-River of No Return (Wilderness) in a year,” Otter told the committee. “And that’s just a par 3.”
Read more: http://www.idahostatesman.com/2011/03/03/1549713/otters-wilderness-math-doesnt.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+IdahostatesmancomNewsUpdates+%28IdahoStatesman.com+News+Updates%29&utm_content=Netvibes#ixzz1FXvA66Dl

Now someone has to look into depth, such other statements Otter has made - Like his position on Wolves - and reexamine the efficacy of the Statements.  Is he ignorant, just plain dumb or financially driven by big dollar supporters

If I were The Idaho Statesman - I would probably do a study of everything Otter has supported in the last 4 years (maybe 8) and get a reality check on this baboon before we let him go to Washington, again, and embarrass an entire way of Life and the Grand State of Idaho.  We don't want to turn into another "Arizona!"

A Research Group Announces Loss of USB portable storage drives.

Dry Cleaners find 17000 USB Storage drives in clothes brought in for cleaning.... in 2010
Can you imagine the amount of personal, private, security - information that is exposed?

Idea?  How about a "home scanning device" that will locate any metal objects in clothing
most plastic things have something metal on them - a ballpoint pen has a metal ballpoint, for example.
paper money, on the other hand - will "pass through."
